Lynda Shaw 

For Lynda, creating art is an emotional experience. Her passion for our beautiful Canadian landscapes was fostered by trips to the McMichael Gallery to see works of the Group of Seven, as well as holidays to her family cottage on Lake Temagami in northern Ontario.

 

Lynda was 15 when she met her future husband, Marc Shaw, at Lake Temagami. Marc and Lynda were married in 1987 and their son Eric was born in 1989.  Sadly, Eric lost his life-long battle with cancer in 2007.

 

Lynda has found that creating art has become a way of celebrating Eric’s life.  Quite often, Marc’s photography inspires Lynda to paint. "It gives me great joy to create my art. When the viewer makes an emotional connection with one of my paintings, I feel deeply touched and honoured. That is when I know that I have achieved my goal as an artist."

 

Lynda’s art is influenced by the Group of Seven, Tom Thomson and Bruno Cote. She has taken classes at the Ottawa School of Art from Patricia Savoie and Bhat Boy.  She has also studied under David Kearn and Andrea Mossop. At present, Lynda takes classes from the inspirational Gordon Harrison. Lynda has been painting for about five years.  Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries around Ontario.
