Collection: Scott Rubie, SCA

A self-taught artist, Scott Rubie, works in oil, watercolor, and acrylic. He focuses mostly on landscapes often with architectural features. Light and colour are primary features he uses to capture a sense of intimacy in the scene. He is always searching for that emotional equation that ties the viewer to the scene through his painting.

Scott has been painting and drawing most of his life, however it wasn’t until the 90’s while a resident teacher in the northern community of Fort Albany that he began to paint more seriously. After a hiatus from 2005 to 2017, Scott started painting more exclusively with acrylics. Now retired from teaching, Scott devotes more time painting in his home studio outside of Renfrew.

 In 2022, he was accepted in a juried plein air competition at the McMichael Gallery in Kleinberg and won the people's choice award. In 2023, he won the Rose Baker award for Best Water Media and the people's choice award in Brockville. He was also a guest artist at the ECOAA artist weekend at Halls Lake where he gave a demo and critiques to participating artists.
