Collection: Lainey Benson

Lainey Benson was born in Colorado, and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. Growing up in a family of artists and musicians, her path as an artist came as no surprise.

At age 17, Lainey traveled to the idyllic mountain town of Nelson, British Columbia where she completed her education in Environmental Planning. This awakened her appreciation for sustainable, walkable communities. So, with her innate drive to express herself visually, she began painting the urban and rural landscapes that moved her so.

Through her art, Lainey seeks to convey the beauty of time and place. She believes that what the eye doesn’t catch, the heart will, and she hopes her paintings can connect the viewer in just this way.

Lainey continues to be influenced by so many Canadian artists, both historical and contemporary.

These days, Lainey divides her time between Nelson and Montreal, surrounding herself in both natural and urban beauty. The small town and old-world charm of her home bases continues to inspire and enliven her work.
